We had a good time planting Engleman Spruce, Limber Pine, and Bristlecone Pine trees at the old London Mine tailings reclamation project last weekend. With a large crew from Environmental Learning for Kids (ELK) and volunteers from the Colorado Department of Reclamation, Mining & Safety (DRMS), everyone planted nearly a thousand trees on Saturday! These trees will help to provide erosion control and wildlife habitat on the site, which was once a mine waste pile. Thanks to Erica Crosby at the DRMS for organizing the event; we hope to take part in more fun environmental projects like this in the future, so stay tuned!
